Why People Are Not Getting Married - 1196 Words

Marriage is a one of the beautiful things in the world. Around 1960’s, mostly everyone used to get married in their 20’s. However, in today’s generation, there are less people getting married in U.S. Rate of marriage in U.S. in America is dropping very sharply about 20% compared to 1960. Many of the people are deciding not to get married. There are certain reasons behind why these people are choosing not to get married. The main reason why people are not getting married is financial problems. There are different types of financial problems that everyone thinks about before getting married. At first, many people have a lot of debt, such as school loan, car loans, etc. (Luhby). According to CNN money news, balance of student debt per person have increased from $23,000 to $28,000, and 50% people spend most of their income to pay for their debts. In 1992, the average student loan price was $10,000 which have increased up to $60,000 in 2013 (Luhby).The person with debt wants to finish up paying all their loans before they get married. In some states married couples are also responsible of their partner’s debt, so they don’t want to get married to someone who has a lot of debt (Jacques). Furthermore, not everyone has a good job, so they think that they cannot provide everything for their partner or family.
